Frasier

Due to the volume of e-mail, I might not be able to respond to each individually, but if I get asked a question that might be of interest to others AND if I know the answer to it, I will post the question and answer here.

Have you heard any information on when Jane may be returning back to work on the show? I trust she and her daughter are doing well. — David

Jane will be returning to the set next week (the week of February 5) and the episode with her return, appropriately titled "Daphne Returns" will air on May 1. From all accounts, mother and daughter are doing very well. Jane mentioned during an interview with "Entertainment Tonight" that everyone in the cast has seen the baby already, but that she was going to take the baby for a visit to the set before getting back to work.

I know that Jane Leeves had her baby on the 9th was she fliming at the time and if so what happened, and who was there?, also I know Peri Gilpin had a baby in the show did she have one in real life? — Lydia

The last episode that Jane was a part of, prior to giving birth, was filmed on December 11, 2000. Jane gave birth on January 9, 2001 to a healthy baby girl named Isabella Kathryn Coben during her maturnity leave. When Niles comments on Daphne's weight loss in the season 8 episode "It Takes Two To Tangle," it is actually an inside joke on Jane having her baby. Niles tells Roz at Cafe Nervosa in the opening scene that Daphne has "already lost 9 lbs. 12 oz." at the health spa, which is exactly how much Jane's daughter weighed at birth :) Peri Gilpin, who Jane and her husband Marshall named godmother, was present during delivery.

As for Peri Gilpin, although the character of Roz gave birth on the show, Peri Gilpin was not pregnant in real life.

Dan Butler hasn't made an appearance on Frasier in quite some time now. What's happened to "Bulldog"? — Dana

At the end of season 6, Dan Butler's character of Bob "Bulldog" Briscoe was fired from KACL due to the sagging ratings of his "The Gonzo Sports Show." The reason for this was due to Dan Butler leaving "Frasier" at the end of season 6 to pursue other acting challenges. Since then he has been seen in a few guest spots in various TV shows, but mostly, he has been very active in his first love, the stage. Dan Butler's appearance in the season 7 episode, "The Dog That Rocks the Cradle," was as a guest star after having left the show. Who knows, maybe he will be back for more episodes in the future... here's hoping :)
